Together Everyone Achieves More.
More friendly service + More creativity + More abilities + More attention to detail + More quality workmanship + More project management = More client satisfaction!
Great communication between our project planning team and our installation team ensures that your project is completed on time, on budget and as expected.
Each one of us comes with our own strengths and expertise, but more importantly, with our own passion and love for what we do.
Joe Lawson, Owner
Excelling in trade school, a compassionate high school teacher helped Joe choose his future career by drawing a simple comparison chart on the black board. Those few moments about three decades ago steered him to an apprenticeship program with George Brown College in Toronto, and his passion for the trade, and the satisfaction of a good day’s work stirred him to start out on his own. Having grown from a sole proprietorship in 1988 to an incorporated team, Joe still loves what he does on the job site, and has taken the opportunity to work with today’s students by supporting the local high school co-op program and he has been proud to have been a part of continuing to help train several of them as apprentices.
Kim Lawson, Owner
Academics was Kim’s course of study, and after marrying a carpenter starting his own business, she was able to use those skills to help him build his business. Practical experience working with clients and seeing their growing need for project design and product choices, she was willing to learn and take the opportunity to take on a showroom and design team. Kim’s greatest satisfaction comes knowing that together with a great installation and design team to work with and great suppliers of products and services who stand behind their products, no job is too big or too small. The project goal is being met ‘On Time, on budget, and as expected.’
Marion Chisholm, Project Designer
Always looking for a challenge, after years of working on the retail floor in a lumber & hardware store, Marion took the opportunity to train in kitchen design. Realizing quickly that kitchen design was not about selling cabinets, but about building relationships and once she created great success for that store, Marion challenged herself once again by joining a brand new company where relationships had to be built and referrals were a necessity. Six years after accomplishing that goal, she joined the Lawson Home Improvements team with a new challenge to work with a high quality builder who who wanted his clients to get more than ‘a builder’s kitchen’ for his clients. With tight deadlines, hard hat & steel toe boots, she has created award-winning work. The smiles on her faces of those new home owners, along with her renovation clients, makes it all worth her while.
Mark Shearer, Project Designer
Starting primarily in kitchen design in 2004, Mark has welcomed the opportunity to continue learning about other aspects of the renovation business. Not afraid of getting dirty, unloading trucks and climbing the ladders, Mark is often out on the road measuring and designing windows and door systems to suit our clients’ needs. He has enjoyed working on projects requiring additions and new construction projects for in house clients or other local builders and contractors. Mark is always ready to step up to the demands of the job, and his dedication and experience delivered in a straight forward manner is so appreciated by clients and builders alike.
Mirella De Luca, Project Co-ordinator
Working for 20 years in a building centre, Mirella says that working with us “is just my cup of tea.” Sourcing, managing & co-ordinating all product orders for each of our projects, she makes sure that everything happens ‘On time, On budget and As Expected!’ Ensuring our design team gets their orders in on time and following through with order confirmations and delivery schedules, knowing the names of all the miscellaneous parts and pieces that our installation teams needs, arranging, tracking and receiving all the project components, summarizing our client files into installation packages for our installers, and working with our clients to ensure their service needs are met, Mirella is a vital part of our team!
Mat Testa, Carpenter
Starting with our team as a co-op student in high school, Mat has continued to work with us as an apprentice, and last June was rewarded with his Red Seal in General Carpentry. Mat’s hard work, loyalty and dedication is shown through his wonderful craftsmanship and attention to detail. Although he doesn’t always say very much, Mat’s attitude and quality of work speaks volumes about who he is and how he loves what he does.
Born and raised in the renovation business, whether around the kitchen table or on the job site, Ren has probably seen and heard most everything he needs to know about the business and he still chooses to be a part of it! Developing calloused hands long before most kids even think about getting a part time job, Ren has the desire and energy needed to embrace the long hours often required to get things done. Presently finishing his third and final year of his apprenticeship at Sir Sandford Fleming College, many of our clients have been pleasantly surprised by his experience and ability, and we couldn’t be more proud.
Josiah Warren, Carpenter’s Assistant
Working his way through to law school involves a lot of study, but Josiah gives his all when he is on the job site. Working in a welding shop before relocating to Uxbridge, he is not afraid of hard work and is always ready to jump right in to do whatever he is asked to do. His great attitude and team spirit really help to get things done, and done well.
