Giving Back to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital

Lawson Home Improvements Inc. generously opened their hearts to the Uxbridge Hospital Palliative Care Patient Rooms and Family Lounge Makeover mission back in November 2009. Kim Lawson was initially approached by designer Laura Gray who was working with The Uxbridge Cottage Hospital Foundation, and could not walk away! Kim was drawn to help as one of her family members had recently passed; she had spent some time in the Palliative Care Patient Rooms and Family Lounge.

In addition to Kim, the added Lawson Home Improvements team were “very happy to help,” and spent a significant amount of time researching the most comfortable fit for the design plan, yet meeting the strict material requirements to work well in a hospital environment, while suiting the makeover budget.

In the end, the main objective of the project was achieved. Lawson Home Improvements assisted in recreating rooms built upon a sense of comfort, ease and support, providing newly renovated spaces for both the patients, and their caring families. Mission accomplished!

It is so meaningful to us here at precious minds to have partners like Lawson who can step in in our time of need to help us help the families in North Durham who have children with many different challenges.”
